Hanis Cafe

04 October 2009

Many of us have heard of Han's Cafe, but Hanis Cafe? The latter is actually the Halal subsidiary of the Han's Cafe chain, and if I'm not wrong there's only one of its kind right here at the National Library. Hanis uses the exact same menu as Han's but it doesn't have the "Asian" section to it, which includes dishes like fried rice and fried noodles. Prices, meanwhile, are identical.

Beef Superburger with Egg: 3.25/5

I was wondering what extra ingredients the "superburger" has, but in fact it only means that the burger comes with coleslaw and fries. Naturally, I did away with the coleslaw and asked for more fries. It's a decent burger, the beef patty was juicy enough and the buns were adequately toasted.

Grilled Dory Fish: 3.25/5

Daphne ordered the set meal, which comes with a soup-of-the-day, a garlic toast, a drink and a dessert. For $9.80 that's a pretty good deal. The fish was alright, nothing spectacular, but yeah, alright.

Service
There was a sudden shout when I was taking a picture of the interesting menu board (resembles the ones at the airport, don't you think?) and it turned out to be one of their middle-aged cleaning staff demanding that I stopped taking pictures. Too bad old man, I took two already, and I do wish you could be a bit more polite sometimes.

Price
$6.80 for the beef superburger and egg
$9.80 for the grilled dory set meal
$1.30 for a cup of coffee

Place
National Library, Victoria Street, #01-01.
