Ambush

05 September 2009

It's a funny way to name a small eatery "Ambush" when you actually realise that it's much more inviting than the crowds and long queues at nearby shopping sensation Orchard Ion. Tucked at a corner of Takashimaya's basement food hall, Ambush lives up to its name in providing "moderately priced cuisine with the convenience of hassle-free-dining and fast and friendly service". I couldn't agree more.

Prawn Fritti Spaghetti: 3.75/5

We had the same pasta done differently, mine the "Arrabiatta" way (spicy red tomato sauce) while Daphne stuck to "Aglio Olio" with the typical garlic, olive oil and chilli flakes. Mine certainly turned out better than expected, and I liked the way that the pasta was spicy but not overwhelmingly so. The deep-fried prawn fritters, while not exactly large (four of them per serving), were a simple delight - crispy and tasty.

Service
Prompt and polite. What happens here is that you would have to order from the counter first, while the staff allocate you a seat. Be prepared to share tables with others, which we thought was alright so as long as they were fine :)

Price
$10.50 each.

Place
Takashimaya Shopping Centre, #B204-2-1 Ngee Ann City Tower A.
